Tucker Carlson to Evangelicals: You've Been Punk'd:
The deep truth is that the elites in the Republican Party have pure contempt for the evangelicals who put their party in power. Everybody in…
MATTHEWS: How do you know that? How do you know that?
CARLSON: Because I know them. Because I grew up with them. Because I live with them. They live on my street. Because I live in Washington, and I know that everybody in our world has contempt for the evangelicals. And the evangelicals know that, and they're beginning to learn that their own leaders sort of look askance at them and don't share their values.
MATTHEWS: So this gay marriage issue and other issues related to the gay lifestyle are simply tools to get elected?
CARLSON: That's exactly right. It's pandering to the base in the most cynical way, and the base is beginning to figure it out.
No.....really?
Would have been nice if you'd been honest enough to bring this up in 2004, you sorry sack of shit masquerading as a journalist.
Lee Atwater, the man who trained Karl Rove in tricks so dirty he recanted on his deathbed, coined the term "extra-chromosome Republicans" to describe these people. And that was back when Jim was a mere sprite of a lad.
ReplyDeleteLike the best GOP humor, this was funny but also incredibly cruel.
That the evangelicals are only now waking up explains a lot about the success of carny games at county fairs. Every year the same suckers line up to win the same stuffed bear.

ReplyDeleteIt's just rats leaving the ship.
I just read a post by Bill Bennent at the Corner blog of the National Review. It reminded me of the left wing of the Democratic party before the McGovern debacle in 72.
At the time they, like Bennent, were begging the faithful not to give up.
So I was wondering if you were going to get a pot going on the number of seats the Democrats pick up in the election? I'll take the number 21.
