The last days of Romneyland - First Read
"Ann Romney's remarks brought several staffers to tears as she told the assembled group that they would always be part of the fabric of the Romney family."
But:
"Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked."
Since those aides were working in the service of a man who, should he have been elected, would have cut off a main source of income support for many working- and middle-class people, I can't say I'm unduly concerned that they had to dig in their wallets for a personal credit card to pay their cab fares. But it is indicative of what my husband terms Romney's "pathological cheapness." Don't you know that on election night, somewhere up in canine heaven, that poor dog who Romney bragged of strapping to the top of their car for 12 hours, was howling with karmic joy?
