So, within a few days, the House passes a bill raising the debt ceiling without the draconian spending cuts the Teabagger Caucus claimed were an absolute condition for such a raise; Sarah Palin gets ignominiously dropped by Faux News; the Defense Department lifts the ban on women in combat; Republicans and Democrats in the Senate get together on an immigration reform package that provides a "path to citizenship" for the undocumented; and the Boy Scouts of America are reported to be actively considering lifting the ban on gay members and scout leaders. A former Romney adviser admits that "the culture wars are over and Republicans largely lost."
Now, I've been fighting these wacked out, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, everything-but-them-phobic nutballs for so long, I'm not taking a victory lap just yet. There's still a lot to do. But you've got to admit, it's the best time to be a liberal that we've seen in a long, long time.
Securing the border and a path to citizenship is in this immigration reform package. These are what the Republicans have always wanted. Give credit to Mark Rubio for getting it done. Now, watch and see Obama steal the issue away from the Senators.
ReplyDeleteActually, Joyce, every immigration proposal includes provisions to better secure the border. It is simply not true that the Republicans have "always wanted" a path to citizenship for the undocumented, which they have falsely identified as "amnesty" (indicating that they have no idea what the word means).
ReplyDeleteAnd you're afraid Obama will "steal the issue"? Sounds like one of the symptoms of ODS: disliking ideas you used to like just because Obama embraces them.
Who do you think you are? A f***ing Psychologist? You live in a dream world. You're not a liberal, you're a commie.....
ReplyDeleteAh, the dying screams of a fading ideology. Music to my ears.
ReplyDeleteAnd BTW, if you're going to say "fuck", at least have the guts to say it right, you fucking loser.
ReplyDeleteStandard Hospital pricing procedure:
ReplyDeleteIn the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where a family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber.
'I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news,' he said as he surveyed the worried faces. 'The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky, but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the BRAIN.'
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a time, someone asked, 'How much will a brain cost?'
The doctor quickly responded, '$5,000 for a Democrat's brain; $200 for a Republican's brain.'
The moment turned awkward. Some of the Democrats actually had to 'try' to not smile, avoiding eye contact with the Republicans. A man unable to control his curiosity, finally blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, 'Why is the Democrat's brain so much more than a Republican's brain?'
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, 'It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to price the Republicans' brains a lot lower because they're used."
