I'm Asking the Questions Here
Over at Murderati, I'm asking some questions about why you buy books by new (to you) authors.Your participation is humbly requested.
Fantastic post today, Dusty. Kudos. ;)
ReplyDeleteMan, you rocked the house today. Everybody's chiming in on this.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think sells books? Kittens. Kittens on the cover. From now on, all you'll see are kittens.
You heard it here first.
good luck with your publishing career, counselor. hope it works well for you and the family.
ReplyDeletepeace to you from Indiana,
mTw
For some lame reason, I have trouble with Murderati's comments, so I'll answer your survey over here.
ReplyDelete1 - trailer - no
2 - online presence - yes, quite a bit actually.
3 - appearance - yes, but it's also been known to put me off...
4 - store - yes. face-outs and other display stuff helps, as does a kick-ass title. Shotgun Opera practically begged me to pick it up!
5 - other - word of mouth, reviews, blurbs and award nominations, especially for first novels.
Really is a good damn question. Thanks!!
