Remember When?

Remember when pundits were tut-tutting and saying that Howard Dean wasn't viable as a Presidential candidate because he came off as too "angry"? Remember when the constant refrain from the wingnut blogosphere was "Oooooh! These leftists are soooooo ANGRY!" (Or, in the alternative, "leftists are soooooo full of HATE!")

I don't ever want to hear anyone ever again talking about "angry" or "hateful" leftists after hearing this:

I couldn't see this at work, but just did at home. Truly frightening. I know these guys are assholes, but I never actually heard them. It explains why they've been marginalized. I have to believe that the people who listen to that shit and get excited will die off soon enough ... and the world will be a better place when those numbers dwindle down.

What's even more frightening is that the FCC bumped an essentially harmless asshole like Howard Stern but keeps dangerous assholes like Beck and company. I'm not for censoring either because you can always not listen, but that is some frightening shit (Beck & Limbaugh, etc.) to listen to; the idea that people that fucking hateful and stupid still walk the earth.

Momma fucking mia.

I think we could market that as an appetite suppressant.

It just put me off my lunch.

Interesting column on this by Tom Gilroy on Tuesday's HuffPo:

"Just as torture was not about getting information but about intimidating our foes and exacting false confessions to justify an Iraq-al Qaida link, just as attacking ACORN was not about investigating voter fraud but about intimidating people from going to the polls, and just as questioning science was not about embracing Creationism but about discrediting climate change so polluting corporations could continue their global plunder, Sessions going after Sotomayer's non-existent "bias" is not about vetting a potential Supreme Court justice.

"It's about making you afraid.
It's about making the media afraid.
And it's about making the Obama government afraid."

Meanwhile, over on Gun Toting Liberal, the Birthers are busy congratulating themselves on Major Cook's imminent self-immolation, cheering like Euro soccer hooligans, and staying ignorant of facts as much as possible.

I dunno what they get out of their anger and other-hatred, other than that it's a cheap source of seratonin.

And let's not forget, fear=fundraising.
