Your Liberal Media At Work.

So a Democrat wins a House seat that's been Republican since the 19th century, after wingnut stars like Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty throw their weight behind a teabagger third party candidate and drive the Republican nominee out of the race for being too liberal, and after Barack Obama gives his endorsement to the Democrat who eventually wins...

...and the night is reported as a huge setback for Obama and the Democrats because of two governor's races.

The Republican victories Tuesday in Virginia and New Jersey are a setback for Obama as he struggles to overhaul the U.S. health care system, win passage of climate change legislation, and build political support for his handling of the war in Afghanistan.

Yes, because the governors of Virginia and New Jersey have so much power over those issues.

Liberal media, my ass.

Thank you. Just thank you.

Black voters apparently stayed home in Virginia (i'm not sure about New Jersey) so the Reps took Virginia back (for now). If they stay home in 2010, Obama will not have a majority in 2010 (not that he's done a fucking thing with the majority he's had since he was elected).

Palin cost the Reps the 23rd. She'd cost them pretty much any election she pokes her nose in.

Surely, you don't think Dems getting beat in Jersey is a good reflection on the President? Forget Palin and conservatives--they're mariginal. It's independents who turned their back on the Dems in Jersey. And those are the people the Dems have to worry about.

He's wasted 285 (or so) days so far with clear majorities. I suggest he accomplish something other than that sit down in Cambridge before 2010 or he'll then have the forever built in excuse why Democrats can't get out of their own way -- a Republican Congressional majority.

Seriously, if you don't think the MSM is liberal, you should rename the blog "What Fresh Denial Is This?" They (MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN) haven't touched this guy one half as hard as he could be right now. NBC's SNL did more to Obama than any of those news organizations ... but you don't want to compare what SNL does to Republicans vs. Democrats.

JD, feel free to cut this from my comment, but I thought of you the minute I saw it. http://www.theonion.com/content/video/victim_in_fatal_car_accident?utm_source=videoembed

Charlie,
I have cousins in New jersey. People there hated Corzine well before Obama was even elected. I don't see either governor's race as reflecting on him at all.

As for whether the media is liberal or conservative, is there a classification for whore? Based on recent observations, I think they'll come down firmly on whichever side will increase ratings or readership.

I don't know if there is a classification for whore but I assume it would be based on price.

Dana, I think you're right about this to a degree. If he (Obama) tanks on Afghanistan the way LBJ did with Vietnam, they'll all go after him like the vultures they really are, but there's no denying the media is still honeymooning with this guy (perhaps somewhat less so than when he was first elected but not anywhere near what they could be doing to him). Essentially, he's still voting "Present" (like he did in the Illinois state legislature) and people are getting antsy for something good to happen for them (not corporations). His problem is he only has another year to get something substantial done or he may lose his majority (and then it's open season). I'd like to see the left pressure him a lot more than it currently is doing because it will be very wasted political clout should he blow the Congressional majority.

Just to clarify:

He's wasted 285 days doing nothing.

The media is not complaining about this.

So, it seems if the media really was liberal then they'd be complaining like crazy about this. By still having this "honeymoon" they seem to be taking the side that doing nothing is right, a rather conservative approach to things.

Clever, John. But if you want a tick-list of things this guy hasn't been touched on by the media vs. what Bush was blamed for, I'd be more than happy to provide it.

Something tells me you already know.

John, let me make it entertaining (with a little help from SNL):

I wasn't trying to be clever.

I did see the SNL skit, it was funny (we can't see them online from Canada, though, the network that owns the rights here doesn't put them online).

I adit, I don't watch an awful lot of American news shows, but from what I've seen they're hardly liberal. Of course, I live in a country with more than two parties - one of our national parties that actually gets seats in parliament is socialist - of course, their membership complain they aren't socialist enough.

Maybe if Nader gets some traction and Palin and her gang get another party going you guys could move beyond the two party system and really have some fun.

Next thing you know, you'll be watching soccer.

See, it must be working ... I actually like watching soccer.

You have to ignore FOX (what you must be watching) because this guy has had a free ride since the election.

That SNL skit was more than funny ... it was 100% accurate. The only thing it left out was how much he's continued Bush's policies. Can you believe, for instance, that not a single act of "oversight" legislation against the banks has become law since the banks turned the economy into a corporate shakedown? Not a one. It gets mentioned occasionally, but I would think by now he'd be hammered for that alone. Wrong war, bla, bla, bla ... never mentioned anymore ... Afghanistan ... hopefully he's realized what a dumb move calling it "necessary" was and this troop stall is for the better (I sure agree with it) but why we're still there is beyond me. He doesn't like to admit mistakes, that's for sure.

I've come to the conclusion we need a viable third party in this country, and maybe a fourth. get it to where neither of the two established can get a majority, or invoke cloture. Then they'll be forced to work together, instead of just sitting back and fighting against what the other sde wants to do without putting forth some sort of viable alternative.

The man has to sleep some time, you know?

I love how Democratic voters are lining up to back-stab Obama. Lining up, screaming failure, after nine months. So cranky, must be nap time.

Are you ashamed of this president? Does he embarass you on the world stage? Repeatedly?

Did people think he had magic powers? Or do only Republicans understand presidents still contend with real-time transaction speeds and the laws of physics?

You want to see change? Kucinich in 2016. Start working now to put the screws on Big Business. But you still won't get a pony out of the deal.

Maybe a little less partying and a little more work would do the trick. If he can't get anything done now, what's going to be his excuse if the Dems lose their congressional majority?

Bush had to cross the aisle to get the morons in Congress (Dems) to go along with two wars and a ton of other bad shit. This clown can't get his own party to do what he campaigned on. He wasted a ton of political capital by waiting ... or maybe he's now deciding on those 100 "present" votes in the Illinois Congress.

Dems are backstabbing Obama? Now that's funny ...
