Which Well Would That Be, Honorable John?

The Hill's Blog Briefing Room:
Democrats shouldn't expect much cooperation from Republicans the rest of this year, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) warned Monday.

GOP senators emerged Monday to caution that the health debate had taken a toll on the institution, warning of little work between parties the rest of this year.

"There will be no cooperation for the rest of the year," McCain said during an interview Monday on an Arizona radio affiliate. "They have poisoned the well in what they've done and how they've done it."

Help me out here.

When the hell have they gotten cooperation from the Republicans so far? Waht are they going to do that they haven't done so far? Put a "hold" on nominees for important posts? Block legislation and throw people out of work just to show they can, then say "tough shit" when anyone calls them on it?

Seems to me all they've done with that well is piss in it. And now they're saying they're going to take a dump in it too, not because of the merits or lack of same of any pending legislation, but because they have their Depends in a wad?

Well gee, Honorable John, guess that whole "Country First" slogan was just that: a slogan. And guess we'll just have to toddle along without you, like we did on the health care bill.

Will somebody please remind this old coot that 41 Republicans + Lieberman is STILL not a majority? And will someone remind the Democrats as well?

At one time, I backed McCain(against Bush 2), but you're right about one thing. If he ever believed in country first, he pissed that away when he bowed to the wingnut division of the party. It appears he's still bending over and grabbing his ankles.

Has the country ever been more polarized? How can anyone who doesn't believe that all Americans deserve health care see themselves as a good person? How can anyone who doesn't believe in financing good public schools? And how much of this nastiness is pure racism? An unwillingness to acknowledge that Obama is the president?

I think it's a combined repetetive action disorder and an addiction, pattinase (abbott).

Addicts like excitement because it gives them an excuse to indulge more in their drug of choice.

For many of these folks, those drugs are adrenalin, resentment, narcissism, self-righteous uncontrolled rage, a determined belief in their own exceptionalism and an opportunity to inflict pain on some species of outsiders without paying the consequences.

For someone from a long line of drunks and druggies, this behavior looks very, very familiar.

I fear for the lives of our Secret Service agents, whose very tough job is about to get tougher.

John Scalzi posited that, once people started looking at the now-passed health care package, they would start to like it. A lot. He also suggested that the GOP, by going all in to defeat this thing, backed themselves in a corner. If they try to repeal it or damage it in anyway, they suddenly become the "party trying to kill grandma" because any move against it will be seen as taking away from the people.

Well, kids, there's a reason John Boehner (R-Tanning booth on the right) was so fiery and pissed off Sunday night. He knew this is exactly what would come about. So lo and behold, what does conservative talk radio station WLW report this morning? More Americans, having read what's in the bill, are now in favor of it.

Which means if the GOP can't retake the House, the House Minority Leader's name in 2011 will most certainly be something other than "Boehner."

I could be wrong, though. He might have be pissed simply because the the tanning booth tax just took a big bite out of his wallet. It ain't easy being orange.
