This Has Gotten Ridiculous

On my way in to the Big City to get new glasses today, I passed by a Christian bookstore out on the highway. The sign out front was advertising "BOOKS AND VIDEOS REFUTING THE DAVINCI CODE".

What. The. Fuck?

What part of "work of fiction" do y'all not understand? Do you think I really need to buy books and videos to refute a freakin' NOVEL?

I think I need to start a new line of books and videos to refute Raiders of the Lost Ark. I need to write a book asserting that the Ark of the Covenant did not, in fact, act as a weapon that "laid waste to entire regions," and that the Nazis did not, in fact, discover an ancient city buried in the desert by a sandstorm that lasted an entire year. Whaddya think?

I actually think it's a twisted form of marketing.

By the Catholic Church taking such a stand against it, they're capitalizing on all the movie/book marketing and drawing interest, hoping that pans into conversions.

Or they just figure we haven't heard enough about TDC.

Which, dear God, we have. More. Than. Enough.

So now the conspiracy has gotten to you, too.

The horror. The horror. And Raiders wasn't even the first attempt. Aren't you surprised that bolts from the heavens didn't rain down upon George Burns at the premiere of "Oh God" ??

Don't you think the more the church types blast the movie, the more people will become curious and go see it?

The marketing campaign for DaVinki Coda is utterly brilliant. Best $500,000 investment their publicity department ever spent. Christ, at this rate Danny-Boy will make the publisher so much money the president can get close to the bonus the Exxon Chairman got!!

Does anybody here remember Dr. Seuss? He'd make a perfect Anti-Christ, and several books on this subject would sell like hotcakes. Especially if you show how all the Boomers who grew up on Seuss are now attacking the Church and the Fundamentalists for being devout Christians...Um, what a great plot!! No WONDER Mr. Bush was trying to change Social Security! Cut off the funding for the Godless Boomers!!

Don't forget to mention that I wasn't involved.
