News Flash: Joe the Plumber Would Not See His Taxes Go Up

ABC News:
Wurzelbacher conceded today that he is not in danger of being hit with the higher tax rate. He acknowledged that he wants to buy a plumbing company for $250,000 to $280,000. That wouldn't be how much profit he would make from the firm.

He would make much less, he said.

That would seem to indicate that Wurzelbacher would not be subject to Obama's proposed tax increase from 36 percent to 39 percent for those making more than $250,000 per family. Instead, he would be eligible for a tax cut that Obama is proposing.

And while we're at it, if John McCain cares so much about Joe the Plumber Wurzelbacher, shouldn't he have at least bothered to get his name right?

But John McCain was a P... oh, hell, I just can't do it any more.

The man's got low blood sugar, 'cause Obama ate his lunch last night.
(Republican talking point: "Obama steals food from elderly!")

He looks like Bob Dole facing down Clinton, without the quiet dignity.

He still thinks it's 2000, where chanting "taxes, jobs, taxes, jobs!" is going to win it.

He's trying to say that all we need is optimism when 8 years of damnfoolish optimism has brought us to the brink.

Barring the proverbial dead girl or live boy, I think we've seen the end of this.

And looking back over how Obama has run this campaign, I'm feeling even better than I did before.

Everyone complained about his 50 state strategy, and now McCain's forced to use precious resources to fight for places like Virginia and West Virginia.

People complained that he wasn't hitting back hard enough, and his quiet dignity has won the day.

He's smart, principled, and disciplined, and god damn, I think he can do a lot of good.

But John called Joe his friend!

As I watched last night, I saw one man listening closely to the questions and then answering them as if the questioner deserved an answer.

The other guy just looked for opportunities to score points.

Maturity vs immaturity.

That "my friend" thing is one of the many little verbal tics that make McCain look like a complete asshole. He really hasn't come off as likable at all in these debates. I think he's trying to look serious and committed and passionate, but he just looks pissed off. And apparently, in politics the worst thing you can be is angry.

Apparently Joe the Plumber is related to Charles Keating. Who'da thunk it.

I listened to part of the Stephanie Miller radio show this morning and the paranoids on the program were pondering if Joe The Plumber was a GOP plant. I rolled my eyes and changed stations.

Ah Joe. He's done more press conferences than Sarah Palin.

Joe's voter registration card also has his name spelled incorrectly, with an "o" instead of a "u" (or maybe it's the other way around). In states like Ohio and Florida his own Republican party is busy purging the voter rolls of as many voters as they can who have exactly that sort of spelling mistake on their registrations. Irony is a bitch.
