For some lame reason, I have trouble with Murderati's comments, so I'll answer your survey over here.

1 - trailer - no

2 - online presence - yes, quite a bit actually.

3 - appearance - yes, but it's also been known to put me off...

4 - store - yes. face-outs and other display stuff helps, as does a kick-ass title. Shotgun Opera practically begged me to pick it up!

5 - other - word of mouth, reviews, blurbs and award nominations, especially for first novels.

Really is a good damn question. Thanks!!
