iPod Roulette

Here's a game I've seen played online, most recently at T-Bogg. Let's see how it shakes out for the Hellions (and anyone else who wants to try it on their own blog).

Put your iPod (or Creative Zen or other MP3 player; you can even use the player on your computer if you have one) on shuffle.
Post the first ten songs that come up.
You can advance through the list with the forward button if you're short on time.
Be honest. We all have some guilty pleasures.

Mine:
Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again-Bob Dylan
You've Got a Friend-Carole King
Till the Coast Is Clear-Hal Ketchum
Lost in Space-Fountains of Wayne
Broken Train-Beck
That Godforsaken Hellhole I Call Home-The Austin Lounge Lizards
Come Talk to Me-Peter Gabriel
Tears-Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler
Whatshername-Green Day
Don't Come the Cowboy With Me, Sunny Jim-Kirsty MacColl

What's in your earbuds?

See, I don't really get to play this game, since 90% of the time I listen to classical music. Never, ever, ever put an opera on shuffle.

JD Rhoades said...

Oh, come on...take a chance, James.

Sorry, Dusty, but if I indulged I would lose my discount card at Snobs'R'Us.

Daniel Hatadi introduced a variation on this game over at his blog which he attributes to a meme, that blog phenom almost as great a disease as this. He says, "The idea is to use the shuffle feature in iTunes or any similar program to pick random songs from your music collection as answers to all-important questions."

Now that's scary.

It makes the pastime a 21st c. version of bibliomancy, the Magic 8-Ball, or the I Ching.

HATADIIIIIIIIIIIIII!

Reading your lists makes me cry. Many of those songs WOULD have come up, except that the professionals upgrading my system last month fried my whole 80G hard drive instead of just the 5G partition where I told them the old operating system was located. In fact, where THEY installed the old operating system. I have back-ups for some of the music, but I'd have to search through 500 CDs to find them... and haven't had time. Go on, enjoy your Johnny 99... I'm going to be reading. In fact, I'll be reading "The Devil's Right Hand." Probably better than music anyway.

Go Bid The Soldiers Shoot - Patrick Doyle (Hamlet)
Enchanted Forest - Jerry Marchand
Stars Of Warburton - Midnight Oil
Fantasy, Op. 4, "Film Noir" - Billy Joel
Safe In Your Eyes - Lorelei
Freeway of the Plains/Lady Kerosene - Spin Doctors
Hearing Aid - They Might Be Giants

M.G : No grades...it's a Zen kind of game.

Urrican: Ouch. Sorry about the HD.

Indiana Joe: You are a geeks' geek. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Daniel Hatadi said...

Yes, Master Rhoades? I was only doing it cause Mr. Tribe told me to. It was really his fault, but I didn't want to go snitching, so I didn't say it was because of him.

Does this get me off detention?

JD Rhoades said...

Daniel: Shut up and keep scrubbing that floor with the toothbrush.

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
