My Hometown Indy Goes Online

The Country Bookshop, which has been an institution in my hometown of Southern Pines for 50-odd years, now offers online ordering.

They're good folks and have been very supportive of yours truly, so show 'em some love next time you're thinking of ordering online.

That is good news. Online ordering strikes me as one of the ways independent bookstores can strike back at the tyrannical dumbing-down perpetrated by the Borderses of the world. Do these folks list their stuff on ABEBooks.com?

Not sure, Peter, but I don't think so. You might e-mail them and ask.

Already bookmarked the site. Being a Tarheel myself, I always like to patronize local businesses. They will be used.

I get a blank white page. Whoever talked them into running a completely-Javascripted site should be bitchslapped. This is going to cost them customers.
